General Managers Message
Dayne Bulloch

Kia ora kotou,

I start this weekly update with some sad news that Tina and Conrad, who are our amazing caterers, will be finishing with us on March 10th.  I know this will cause great disappointment in the club as they have done and amazing job raising the standard for both the members and visitors that come to the club.  On behalf of the club I would like to thank Tina and Conrad for all the effort they have put in and wish them all the best in the future.

Membership at the club has continued to increase with the club pushing through the 1000 number of members for the first time.  This is putting extra pressure on the course and availability of tee times, which is a great problem to have as it shows how the golf club is part of the greater community and people are wanting to be part of the facility.  From Saturday January 25th we will be trialing a one tee start on Saturday's only.  At the moment on Saturday's we have a two tee start with the morning tee times finishing at 8:54am and not starting again until 11:10am.  The morning wave is the most popular and by opening up those extra two hours we may be able to reduce some of the congestion and give people other morning times to play.  No tee times are lost on the day and all play will occur from the 1st hole.  Green fee players will have access to the course after 3.30pm.  Some tweaking of the times may need to occur over the following weeks once we see how the tee system flows.

The Omokoroa Open proved a success with some great weather and golf on show with the course getting rave reviews.  Next week is the 5 Course Classic with more people being introduced to the course.  It is a great time of the year to showcase what we have.  I would like to thank Daryl for his help over the Open weekend as well Swampy and our Sponsors as with out the help events like this cannot be as successful as they are.

Pennants season is coming up on us quickly.  Ritchie Apanui and Denne Stewart have asked if any members are interested on being on the stand by list for the Championship and Seniors divisions please let them know.

Great to see members and visitors on the course with sand buckets hanging from their trundlers.  Please keep this up as it will show long-term results on our tees and fairways.

A reminder to all who use the practice facility to observe the rules on the sign adjacent to the mats.  Importantly please let those players playing the 9th or 18th to retrieve their ball from the practice fairway and do not continue to hit balls.  The players in the field have priority and must be kept safe.

The practice mats will continue to be in operation for an indefinite period, please do not use the grass in front of the mats to practice.   The green staff will determine when the grassed practice area is back in play.

Our Opening Day will be the 2nd February so keep your eyes out for further info.

Finally a big thanks to all those who helped with the course presentation for the Omokoroa Open.  The feedback from members and visitors alike was extremely complementary.  Well done to all.
