General Managers Message
Dayne Bulloch

Kia ora,

Another week has raced by the heat has certainly gone up a couple of degrees and work on the course continues.  Many of you would have seen the second fairway has been torn up to start the process of planting couch to improve the fairway.  The process looks brutal to the fairway, but it helps break the ground up and give us the opportunity to level out some of the low lying patches before the couch stolons are deposited on the fairway and the growth will occur.  The plan is to have the fairway back in play for the Omokoroa Open.  Fingers crossed mother nature plays ball and we have a successful, and short, growing season.

Next Thursday December 5th, there will be a presentation to members around the clubhouse, where we are at, and an indication of some of the next steps.  Phil Tataurangi will also be presenting on the progress the changes occurring on the course.  The evening will be starting at 7 pm and further clubhouse presentations will be occurring with the individual players groups at a later date.  I have included a link to the document that went out earlier this week in the email.

Thank you for those who have entered to name the new Ventrac machine, a winner will be announced in the newsletter next week.

Nga mihi

Bar Managers Message
Matthew Farrell

The club has a sales/supply contract with Heineken DB, which affects the options we may stock on tap and in the bar fridges. For this reason, you will see occasional changes to brands on offer, although the nature of product options should be unaffected.

Arriving soon in the RTD section will be White Claw fruit seltzers.

In the not too distant future, we will add a 330ml bottle option for Monteiths Golden Light, which has proven very popular on tap. Monteiths Hazy, Radler, Summer Ale and Black are in stock.

One of the products we may need to swap this summer is the very similar Mexican-style beer “Sol” to replace Corona for contractual reasons.

Soft drink sales are through the roof in warmer weather. We constantly have stock on order but there is a lead-in time, so apologies if your preferred drink is unavailable for a day or two.

We have some full-size Leveret IQ Brut bottles if anyone feels like champagne this summer, and we also have Reserve Pinot Gris for sale by the bottle.

A housekeeping reminder: It would be a great help to bar staff if large social groups could return tables and chairs to their configuration on departure. It is far easier for 16 people to move two tables and one chair each than for one person to move 16 tables and 100+ chairs.

Please remember the terms of our club licence require us to sign in our accompanied guests unless they are green fee or tournament players on the day. No alcohol is allowed beyond the outdoor tables, and no BYO is permitted. Members would not enjoy losing our bar license.

Finally, please return used drinking water glasses to the bar for hygiene reasons.

Bar sales are up considerably in the past few weeks. Our staff will appreciate your patience as we work hard to keep up with the glass washer and chiller stock while in service.

I hope you have all been able to click on the link previously sent and view the drawings an layout of the proposed Clubrooms.  I am sure you agree, it looks fantastic which is why we are embarking on fundraising events such as our 50’s and 60’s Rock’n’ Roll show this Saturday night.  There are still tickets left as we haven’t hit our budgeted numbers so see the girls in the office, get your tickets and get along on Saturday night for a great night that includes a wonderful dinner from our caterers Tina & Conrad.  It will be a great evening so please make the effort to come along.

This will be closely followed by our Fresh Choice Christmas Ham & Turkey Tournament on the 7th December, morning and afternoon fields and prizegivings.  Two divisions in each field.   The fields are filling up so be in quick if you want to play.  All members welcome for this event.

Our final event of the year is our You Travel, Bethlehem sponsored New Years Eve Tournament.  Last year’s format of “Foursomes with a Twist”  was well received, so I have carried forward this format again this year.  Booking will be online through the club event calander. Payment will be collected when you enter and it will place a hold on your account, if you withdraw, the hold will be released back onto you card.

Haggle Results Saturday 23rd November - these can be found in the video posted on the facebook page, or in the Golf NZ App

Thank you to all our Sponsors
Craig King - NZ Electrical, Pillip Annan - Annan Law, Raewyn Stanaway-Barfoot and Thompson, Ben Taylor- Bethlehem Butchery, Chris Rhind - Stay Right Contracting

Tomorrow: The Haggle will be "Par"

In Par play the score is entered on the card in the same way as in stroke play with the exception that  after entering the stroke score on the card, the result is marked in the column provided with a ‘+’ sign for a win, an ‘o’ for a half and ‘-’ for a loss. At the end of the round the plus and minus signs are added and the nett result written in as so many ‘up’ and ‘down’ or ‘all square’.

A player is allowed his full stroke handicap and the strokes are taken at holes as indicated on the card. for example if you have a 5 on a par 4 and you get one stroke on that hole the personal par is achieved and therefore the result is a "0" as you have halved the hole with yourself, if you were to achieve a score of 4 you will be marked as a win "+"

Haggle review

We are currently re programming the haggle and therefore the payouts over the next few weeks will be delayed and may look different to normal. This will take some time to get sorted, we appreciate your patience with this.

A great time was had by the 19 ladies who went on this annual trip, last weekend, where we played rounds at Putaruru and Arikikapkapa.

Liz Woods once again did a wonderful job of organising it, along with her helpers BJ Simmons and Raewyn Stanaway. A big thank you to them all!

And another big thank you to Raewyn Stanaway at Barfoot and Thompson Real Estate, and Vicki Morgan at Craigs Investment Partners for their sponsorship.

Presidents Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

After being away for a few days im looking forward to getting back out on the course to see what everyone has been up to. Im sure the boxing of the cart paths have been going well and the green staff will have been busy chipping away on the course improvements.

The second Fairway is now well underway with the resowing of the grass, currently this is playing as a Par 3. Please protect the fairway by not playing from it as it regrows

Message for Twilight players please make sure you book in nice and early and support Tina and Conrad.

It was excellent to see the Juniors celebrating a fantastic year at Junior prizegiving last week, Im really proud of the work that is going on to support juniors. Our juniors are really shaping up.
