General Managers Message
Dayne Bulloch

Kia ora Kotou,

Anyone who played on Friday the 8th would have seen that the concrete being laid for the new cart path.  The next job you will see is on the second fairway.  Nathan will be spraying out the second fairway to get some more couch grass plated on that fairway.  This will have an affect on play on that hole, but it will all be back in play for the Omokoroa Open and the Five Course Classic.

As we all know, the Omokoroa area is one of the most popular areas of the country for people to move into.  This is being reflected in club numbers as they are continuing to rise as we head into the summer months.  Currently we have 852 playing members of the golf club and have gone over 100 junior members.  The numbers show we are a healthy and vibrant club and that golf is a sport that is inclusive and people are wanting to be part of.

Continuing on the junior golfing theme, we had over 80 golfers in three divisions playing the course on Sunday.  We are really seeing a surge in numbers of junior players coming into the game and our challenge is to keep them engaged to keep them around.

Enjoy your golf this week.

Nga mihi

A big thank you for all those that competed in the Jack Turner and Mexted Trophies during the Friday Haggle great to keep these alive. Also thanks to the ladies for organising a great Melbourne cup day, it is always a great to see the clubhouse full. Congratulations to the winners.

A reminder to everyone using the practice facility to wait until the 9th and 18th fairways are free of players during your practice or warm up. Also if you are on hole 9 or hole 18 under rule 5.5a you can hit any practice balls back onto the practice fairway the rules states:

"These are not practice strokes when hitting a ball back to a practice area or to another player when done solely as a courtsey"

This certainly helps Richie and his crew when they are picking up the practice balls.

I am still looking for a larger field for the Katmai tray between Omokoroa, Omanu, Walton and Morrinsville at Omokoroa on the 17th of November. This is a great day and a long standing competition between our 4 clubs. It is a Stableford event with the best average Stableford winning the tray. The more players the better our average. The entry sheets are in the locker rooms. 8am shotgun start.

Also coming up is the 50's and 60's rock'n'roll night. Saturday 30th November $55.00 includes dinner and a show.

This will be a great evening and is also the first fundraiser for our clubhouse renovation fund. Tickets are available in the office. Also we have the Christmas ham and turkey tournament on Saturday the 7th December. Morning and afternoon fields. Great prizes. All members welcome, book at the office $25 per player.

Finally I have noticed it is getting a little noisy in prizegivings or when someone is on the microphone. Everyone is working hard on your behalf for all our events so please give them the courtesy they deserve.

Thank you
Daryl Muir

9 Hole Ladies
Yvonne Hoskins

This week we had a fun day and played 'pink ball'.  Team of four, everyone has two tee offs with the pink ball and one member has a third tee off.  The stableford the pink ball creates, is the one that goes on the team card.  Lose the pink ball - and your team is OUT !!

The team with the most stableford points was made up of Sue Waller; Lesley Paton; Dianne Litten and Brenda Anson.

Second was Rohanne Hancock; Jacqui Crossfield; Robyn Lamborn and Sue Smith.

Third was Jacqui Kerr; Chris Kelly; Yvonne Hoskins and Janet Burmeister.

Well done ladies.

Also need to mention two of our ladies won a ball today for fantastic stableford points they scored individually.  Margaret Griffiths had a brilliant 24 stableford points and Janet Burmeister had a whopping 27 stableford points.  Well done you two.

Last Saturday saw an exciting finish to the A1 Kitchens Shootout with Alan Hitchener coming out victorious. Congratulations also to Tony Allport, Ravi Shearman and Peter Kilpatrick for rounding out the top four. A huge thank you to A1 Kitchens for their ongoing support of one of the major Men’s golf events of the year!

The new Men’s Committee was elected at the recent AGM to take us through the 2025 Golfing year.  Our first committee meeting will be held shortly and we will be taking a look at all aspects of the Men’s programme with a view to improving the golfing experience for all members, diversifying competitions that are played, and enhancing our premier golf events on the calendar.

Many thanks to long serving Men’s Committee members, for their organisation of the shootout. David Popham and Stephen Davis, who have now stood down from the Men’s committee. They have contributed a massive amount to the Men’s Section and we thank them for their hard work and dedication.

Presidents Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

What a week it’s been, with more busy days ahead! On Monday, the Vets Quads teed off with a full field, and the weather was on our side. We saw some impressive scores, a testament to the great condition of our course, as Omokoroa claimed a close third.

On Sunday, we hosted the Junior Open, now part of the BOP Futures Golf circuit. Players from Taupo, Opotiki, Rotorua, and Omokoroa—along with our local courses—competed in a fantastic tournament over both 9 and 18 holes. A well-run event, and a huge thank you to our sponsors! Our juniors enjoyed fine weather and posted some great scores, with our very own Jarvis Grainer winning the main trophy.

A big round of applause goes to Jo Jory and her team for hosting a memorable Melbourne Cup day. Over 80 “jockeys and fillies” enjoyed a wonderful day with some impressive scores. Thanks to all our volunteers who helped make it such a success.

Our Twilight evening was also a hit, setting up a challenging 9-hole par 3 event, capped off by a delicious meal from Tina and Conrad. Thank you to Hayden Nganeko and Kerry Duggan for a great set up.

A heartfelt thanks to all our sponsors, and happy golfing!
