General Managers Message
Dayne Bulloch

Kia Ora Kotou,

Much like organising a cricket game in Napier brings rain, Labour weekend in the North Island does much of the same!  The long weekend may not be the best weather to get out on the course, but we can hope that the forecasters are wrong.

I was lucky enough to play with the Tuesday Ladies this week and enjoy the course.  Nathan and his team have done a great job.  The course in fantastic condition and is a lot of fun to play.  Each month Nathan reports to the Board around the condition of the course with some specific goals he has put in place.  The current targets are that the greens are mowed four times a week rolled twice a week, with the fairways and tees mowed once a week.  For September all those targets were met.  There were some challenges with wind causing branches to come down and also drying the greens out.  One of the biggest challenges that green keepers have, especially in New Zealand, is the encroachment of Poa into the greens.  Nathan has been spraying this and looking at the greens on Tuesday, is well ahead of the Poa.

For the amount of play that the course is having at the moment, he has done a great job to keep it in the condition it is with other projects, like the tree removal and drainage clearing, occurring at the same time.

Enjoy your long weekend!

Nga Mihi

The normal Friday Haggle will run in conjunction with this event, however there will be an extra $3.00 charge, i.e. the day will cost $10.00 including twos.  We need a big field for a great day.

Don’t forget that tickets are now on sale for the Rock’n’Roll night.  Book and pay at the office.  It’s on the 30th November, dinner and show $55.00 pp.  Everyone welcome.

I still require more numbers, both Mens and Ladies for the Kaimai Tray Interclub day at Omokoroa on 17th November, 8.30 am shotgun start.  This is between Omokoroa, Walton, Omanu and Morrinsville.  The format is 18 hole stableford with the best clubs average score the winner.  So the larger our field the better chance we have.  Entry free is $20.00 for the day with prizegiving afterwards.  Entry sheets in the locker rooms.

The Christmas Tournament is set for Saturday 7th December, there will be 2 x tee bookings, morning and afternoon. All members welcome.  Save the date and I will let you know when the booking sheet is open.  Ham and turkey prizes and raffles.  Entry $25.00 pp
