Manager's Message

Maintenance Week

Next week the clubhouse and course are closed as the team rips into some maintenance.  The greenkeepers are coring the tee backs, as well as some of the fairways.

The practice range and green will be open, but please use your own balls, and ensure you pick them all up!  Please continue to hit from the mats only as we let the rest of the range recover.

The range will be closed Thursday 10am-5pm as we have our friends from The Clubroom running their fitting day, which is now fully subscribed.

All going well, we hope to open the course on Friday.  Please check the website for updates

Course Masterplan

The Course Advisory Group (CAG) has been working very hard with Phil Tataurangi to develop a blueprint for the future of our course.  We are at the stage in the process where we want some member feedback.  The draft plan be presented at the conclusion of competitions on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday starting 10 September.  Phil will present a short, high-level overview of the plan, then members will be given the opportunity to send in any feedback.  Anyone is welcome to attend any of the sessions.

Bar Manager's Message
Matthew Farrell

Heineken, which owns DB/Monteiths, has discontinued producing Mid Ale and Heineken Light in bottles. We are responding by introducing Monteith’s Golden Light 2.5% lager on tap.

Due to anecdotal feedback from patrons, we soon trial the return of Tui as a brown ale on tap, and the introduction of DB Draught in quarts to see how popularly these sell.

All our tap beers and shandy are available as full measures, jugs and as 285ml glasses for those wanting to moderate with what’s close to an old half pint (568ml) measure.

Going into summer we will reconsider options for our least popular tap, such as Tuatara APA.

Look out for other requested bottles such as Speights Summit Ultra and Speights Mid Ale, our range of Bundaberg, craft beer and RTD bottles as we continue to rotate choices for you.

This week we had a fun day and played Stableford Waltz.  The wet weather stayed away for us, and we managed to play in pleasant conditions.  Winners on the day were - Irene Hallam;  Debbie Hardaker;  Lyn Bird;  Sue Smith and Jacqui Crossfield.

As there is no golf next week because of coring / maintenance, we have decided to go out for lunch.  A pleasant change........  Good golfing.
