Staff Update
Quite a few changes in the OGC team at the moment:

As many of you know, we are losing our awesome Brittany next month.  The good news is we have appointed a new caterer who we think will be just as good.  Some of you will remember Tina Hardy from her time in the Bar last summer.  Tina and her husband Conrad will take over from mid-March.  Tina will also be helping in the bar thru February, so she will soon be a familiar face around the club.

Hugh is leaving us to further his study.  He has been an awesome addition to the bar team and I’m sure we will see him back at some stage.

Young Milla Campbell has joined our bar team and will be doing some shifts on weekends and evenings. We are still looking for some extra bar cover, so if anyone knows a suitable person, give them my details.

We also lose Barbara soon as she heads off to take endless holidays!  She will be sorely missed in the office, and by the members.

Sherryl Hughes has been appointed as our new accounts assistant.  She comes with a wealth of experience and a has a really positive outlook.  I’m sure she will be made to feel right at home.

Great to see the changes to the Local Rule and also the new rules for the Practice Fairway operation are working well.  The Captains Group will review these at the end of the month.

Looking forward to Opening Day on Sunday, great to see the support and don’t forget to get your Elvis Tickets asap.

Wednesday Twilight
Jonathan Lewis

In keeping with the current weather, Twilight this week had a Hawaiian/Fijian theme. There were many splendid outfits on display with prizes going to Kerry Duggan, Swampy, Christine Anderson and Alan Hoskins. Christine was unanimously voted best dressed overall.

This was the PaR nz Golfing Holidays special sponsors evening and there were a number of extra novelty prizes on offer - in addition to the dress theme prizes. Straightest drive was won by Glenda Gourley, Jacqui Crossfield, John Garnett and Des Southall (many thanks to Colin Gee and KD for setting that up for us). Karl Patterson was the winner of the Hidden Holes, and the Nearest the Pin winners were John Garnett (again), Dale Courtney (Mike Kier grabbed your prize), Trish Weir and Lynda Smith. All of these prizes were kindly sponsored by PaR nz Golfing Holidays with winners receiving a sleeve of Titleist golf balls or a golf towel. Winners of the Longest Putt were Bill Neeley and Jordan Shaw and they received a cooler bag courtesy of OneStaff recruitment. Unfortunately Jordan missed out on the straightest drive as he hit his drive way too far!

The format for the evening was “Special Threes” and the winners were Carol and Fintan Downes with a very creditable 44 points - 12 points on their final hole - zero on their first hole. Fintan and Carol each received a $30 petrol voucher courtesy of Mike Deane Motors. Second on 43 points were Jen Carter and Nicole Bridson who have closed the gap at the top of the leaderboard to only 4 points. In third place were Jake Buskirk and Martin Jordan with 41 points.

A very successful evening - Rachel and Milla were kept pretty busy at the bar while Brittany and Ana served up 70 meals with a little help from Vivien. The winner of the complementary meal courtesy of Brittany was Alison North.

The season long leaderboard can be found here

President's Message
John 'Swampy' Marsh

* To Pennants Captain's, please text me your results for the newsletter.

* Great to see Murray Browne back on his feet - great recovery.

* If anyone wishes to buy a native tree for the 16th native garden let Colin Gee know.  He has eight native trees valued at $800 to $1,000 each, but has been offered them for $200 each.  Saturday men's section has donated money to buy one.  Are any other sections able to purchase one, and or members?

* Don't forget to buy your tickets for te "Elvis" night out, he is a really good entertainer.

* I had the pleasure of playing with Gren Alabaster on vets day, for a man in his twilight years (80 +)  he has been a great sportsman for NZ and still hits a great ball.

* Great to see K Roberts and Alan Mayo all  playing under their age.  Well done young fella's.

* To all members carts or buggies, please don't drive on the new soil on the 15th and 16th, walk and retrieve your ball.

* Also members when removing closest to pin markers, do not scratch a cross with the wire, please use a marker.  Thank you.
