This is a kiwi company taking on the big boys, and they have produced a premium product for an excellent price.  We also have their tees which are made from recycled coffee grounds!  Biodegradable and sustainable!  Check out their website for more information https://volle.golf/

Kieran Muir Update
Unfortunately, Kieran was unable to progress to the next stage of the Q School in Bristol.  Kieran has only been back playing full-time for a few months, and is pleased with his progress so far this year.  His next events are the local Charles Tour events at the Mount and Tauranga in the coming weeks.

All Blacks Breakfast
The Rugby World Cup kicks off tomorrow with our ABs taking on France in the opener.  The footy will be live at the club, and Brittany will be here selling delicious Breakfast Burgers - two rashers of bacon, egg, hash brown, cheese, sauce and tomato relish for only $15.  The club will open at 7am, and breakfast will be served throughout the match.

9 Hole Ladies
Astrid Martin

Firstly, we would like to thank our interclub team participants for their efforts this year, Omokoroa finished 3rd out of 9 clubs. The scoring was quite close, and our gratitude goes to Robyn King, Margaret Griffiths, Astrid Martin, Mary Jane Leuch, Janet Burminister and Dianne Mahoney for playing and also a big thankyou to Rohanne Hancock for organising the players throughout the year.

Next Monday Robyn King and Astrid Martin head to Whakatane to represent our club in the Dorothy Garland tournament, we wish them all the best.

This week we had a fun day, teams of four each had one "Pink Ball" and one player had to play with the ball and record their stableford score. Two holes each and the last was a lucky dip. If the pink ball was lost during play, that meant automatic disqualification!

Three of the five teams handed in cards and the winner were:

The Stinky Perky Pinkies with 19 stableford points
Robyn King, Lyn Harrison, Cheryl Bowie & Daisy Harrison

2nd
The Pink Ladies on 18 points
Debbie Hardacker, Rohanne Hancock, Diana O'Brien & Trish Fecklington

Well played ladies.

Keep smiling, and remember "Happiness is like a bank account. The more you deposit into it, the more you can take out!"

Happy golfing everyone.

Thursday 7th September - Canadian Foursomes

A small group of 24 players joined up for a fun game of Canadian Foursomes.

The course was damp and the greens were still showing the after effects of last week’s coring programme

I think we all got our heads around the rules and managed some reasonable results.

The foursomes played in pairs and handicaps for each pair were combined for a net handicap.

Haggle winners were:

Lawson Stewart and Vic Sterling                 Net 36
Kevin Bowick and Blair Francis                    Net 36.5
Bruce Blair and Horton Schofield                Net 38

Raffle Prizes went to:

Horton Schofield
Dianne Mahoney
Lawson Stuart

The Lucky Dip was won by Brett Dixon.

Next wee, 14th September we play Round 6 of our 9 Hole Stroke Play Championship.

RESULTS – Wednesday

What was supposed to be qualifying day for Western Tray was overtaken by weather conditions and has been deferred until 20th September, which is also referred to a bit further in this update.

A small field braved the elements and the course conditions and scoring apart from one individual reflected those conditions. The winner and having just returned from a few weeks in Oz:

John Holloway         41 points

He arrived back sporting the traditional Akubra Ozzie Stock hat and initially it appeared we had been joined by a well known Oz celebrity – a dead ringer as shown below. Maybe Crocodile Dundee has weathered slightly better.

If you are interested in playing in any particular event or require additional information contact me on 027 548 2003 and I’ll try to steer you in the right direction or appropriate contact person.

What a wonderful job Hayden Nganeko does with the juniors every Thursday, lots of potential new members, and so good to see the children with happy smiles and support from mums and dads. Thanks Hayden.

I don’t know if any members visited the Settler Hall history group display on Saturday.  Very informative few hours, lots of family members describing the early days on the peninsular.  Omokoroa Golf Club display was well received.

One flag pole completed, both should be finished for next Monday.

Happy golfing – Summer is on it’s way.

Sponsor Spotlight

Kia ora to our Omokoroa friends

It is great to be continuing the association with the Omokoroa club – and have just signed off a renewed contract with Marcus and Pink, to support the Twilight series in particular.

‘Spring is in the air’ and like you, the Team from PaR nz is looking forward to a ‘dry’ and bumper summer of golf.

For us, it has been a very busy 2023 hosting our Kiwi and Aussie clients around the world. Now that international borders are fully open and golfers are mad keen to get travelling – we of course are delighted to get our travel business going again and sincerely thank those clients who have stuck with us. Hope you have been following our numerous golf journeys on FaceBook.

To squeeze in by Xmas, coming up around NZ, we have 4 great tournaments – 2-4 October 2023 our Trinity Hill Hawkes Bay 54-Hole Classic in support of our golfing friends from this flood affected region, 10 places remaining. Labour Weekend 21-22 October is the Golf NZ Mixed Foursomes @ Boulcotts Farm – Division 1 is off the stick, other Divisions by handicap – grab your partner come play this popular match play tournament.

Rolling into November we have our Millbrook Masters sponsored by the newly launched Mora Wines and the Golf NZ Senior Foursomes at Fairview GC. Both these events are sold out but look out for 2024 dates. To complete the year – our 2023 Spain Portugal Morocco Tour starts in Madrid in October – highlight of that tour will be playing Valderrama and the Solheim Cup Host Venue – Finca Cortesin along with 12 other world-class courses.

Barnbougle is always the buzz and will be a highlight on our tour to Tasmania in December – if you missed out this year, register for 2024.

For 2024 we have a HUGE international programme and its great to see our PaR nz travellers enjoying new destinations and playing great golf courses once again!  Some popular destinations have sold out as has the new tour programme for Japan but please contact us if you want to be on the reserve list for this amazing country, or South Africa or Canada.  Or be on the invite list to received tour details ahead of the general release for 2025, to these golfing wonders.

Places are limited on our tour to Ireland in July 2024 coinciding with the 152nd Open at Royal Troon. We are also taking registrations of interest for the 153rd Open @ Royal Portrush.

For July/August 2024 we are very excited to shortly release our 2024 France & Paris Olympics Tour – don’t miss out on this once in a lifetime event. Yes, we have tickets to 3 days at the Olympics to watch golf and in fact play Le Golf National as well! Plus 20 days sampling everything that you dream about a golf holiday to France in the Northern regions.

We will be back to Fiji in August/September 2024 – our Denarau Women’s Golf Classic will celebrate its 20th year anniversary and the competition will be hot once again for our Sheraton Fiji Villa Teams Challenge. Vietnam is back on our calendar in October 2024 – look out for the Danang Sixes! Around New Zealand we are back hosting our ever-popular multi-course tournaments. In January 2024 is the Barfoot & Thompson Bay of Plenty 5 Course Classic – we are aiming to top our 340 numbers from 2023 with a lot of interest from the Pacific Islands and Australia. In May is the 2024 Copthorne Bay of Islands 4 Course Classic – back for its 7th year!

Hope to hear from you soon – or see you on some fairway.  We look forward at the very least, to seeing you at the Twilight Series – all the best to you all.

Best golfing for now
