Reminder that we have our SGM tomorrow at 4pm.  This is to update the wind-up clause in the constitution.

Times on Cards
You will notice that some times have popped up on the right hand side of your next scorecard.  This is to give golfers an indication of the schedule you should be keeping for your round.  It should help to identify slow play or to settle disputes when crossing over.  As we get busier and tee sheets fill up it is important we stick to tee times and keep our pace of play up so everyone can enjoy a relaxing round of golf.

Kieran Muir Update

Our proud club member and golf professional Keiran Muir is looking to make 7 trips between now and December to China, of which the first trip has three events.  He is flying out this Sunday for the Jinan Open, Hangzhou West Lake Open and then Zhengzhou open.  We wish him well and will be supporting from afar.

Course Update

1.  As most of you can see, the completion of the current drainage upgrade is nearing completion. The final stage of the levelling with top soil, and seeding, will hopefully be finished in the next two weeks, depending on the weather.

2.  The 13th fairway has had some low points filled with sand. Please do not drive over them. If you have to lower the tape protecting that area, please put it back up after playing your shot.

3.  Fairways have been sprayed, and the summer grass is now dying off.

4.  The barrier chains are not there for decoration. They are protecting the playing surface of our two wettest fairways. Do NOT lift your trundlers over them! Leave them on the path, and cross over with the clubs you need to play the shot. 

5.  As we move into winter and the wet weather that comes with it, we again strike the issue of allowing carts on wets days.  The greenkeepers make very difficult decisions to try to balance the protection of the course against the desire to maintain access for those who rely on carts.  The decisions are not taken lightly, and it is a source of much debate.

This season there will be days when we ask that cart users stick to the cart paths only (where provided).  That means:  Where cart paths are available, drive to a spot perpendicular to your ball, leave your vehicle on the cart path, and walk to your ball. 

Members who are observed disobeying the rules are spoiling it for the rest of the users, and repeated offenders may face disciplinary action.

Hopefully this will alleviate some of the issues and we can all carry on enjoying our wonderful course as often as possible.

scheduled for this Saturday

The Finals are scheduled to be played Sunday 28th May The Tee off
times for which are currently being organized.

Weekend Pennants

The third and final round was played at Fairview last Sunday, with BJ Simmons scoring 11 points, Dawn Rumney 6.5 points, Chrissy Anderson 8 points and Liz Woods 10.5 points.  Our team finished 2^nd overall to Waihi.

Results  - well that didn’t take long

It’s been what I describe as a STAG week (STuffAllGolf)

And there are various theories about the origin of our current weather pattern. The powers were not happy that the Chiefs demolished the Crusaders for the second time – just ask Canterbury’s Ed Coop his views – and this is revenge. And the powers were obviously not impressed with the waka jumping going in Wellington either so perhaps this was predictable. Let’s hope we see an improvement next few days.
