For more information click here

Our Sue
Our wonderful Sue is taking a bit of time off.  She has a medical issue to deal with, and will need to have a couple of months off to recover.  We wish her the best and look forward to welcoming her back when she is ready.

In the meantime you will see some new (and some familiar faces) on the weekends.   Be nice to us as we try to fill some very big boots!

Vets Vibes
Ross Milne

Wednesday  - recap
This was a combined event involving both a SUNVIEW stroke play round and the usual Stableford Competition. Vets policy is that individual winners can only be awarded one prize – in one or the other event.

On that basis the Stableford winners for the day were:
Div 1
Steve Ingall                                                   41 points
Someone Milne                                           41  “
Neil Kenny                                                   38   “
(Des Hammond came out on top, also with 41 but had been recognised as the day’s winner for his SUNVIEW round – top performance all the same)

Div 2
Brian Barnes                                               42 points  ( great effort Barnie)
Ed (Canterbury’s pin up boy)  Coop      41     “
Barry Whitely                                             39     “

Well done to Starters, Office Computer Whizz and Comperes. Difficult set up incorporating various events but went well.

A belated acknowledgement to Brian Currie who had a prize winning round earlier which I overlooked. We don’t win out of turn so nice to be recognised.

Coming Events and Dates
Quads – 2nd Round - Mt Maunganui    15th May
(Entry form posted in locker room and numbers filling very quickly. Great to see the level of interest shown in this tournament)

BOP Vets - Ohope  1st May
Entry form is in locker room. Entries close off next Wednesday 26th April when I forward details to organisers. Pretty challenging “links style” course but well worth considering.

BOP Vets - Interprovincial Challenge – Waikato v BOP - Putaruru  29th May
Al Thompson has already emailed details out.  We have two or three already confirmed but entries close off tomorrow evening.  So I need to know asap if anyone else wishes to make the field.

Bon Voyage
Safe travels to Al and Sue Thompson off to Europe on sightseeing and cycling adventure for a couple of months.

Also our “Rules Guru” James Alexander flew out yesterday to UK to link up with golfing colleagues on a tour of Wales and also to attend the centenary celebrations of the school he attended ( a little time ago to be fair)  Stowe School.  A beautiful establishment featuring magnificent buildings and grounds

Our own Anya Apanui played number 2 in the team and recorded 2 wins and a loss. She is playing very consistent, high quality golf at the moment, scoring a run of 76s in this tournament.

Caitlin Maurice
The Sacramento State women’s golf team has just won the Big Sky Championship in Arizona. It was their fifth win of the season, and the 4th in a row for Sacramento State. And OUR Caitlin totalled 69-66-76-211 to win the individual title by one stroke! The victory is the first of her career, playing college golf in the USA, and led to her being named in the all-tournament team.
