BOP Ladies Championship Pennants
It seems the Omokoroa Ladies now have enough players to field a team in this prestigious BOP wide event. The team has not yet been confirmed, but it looks like they will have their first round of pennants on Sunday 12th February. It is very exciting to field a team and I will keep you all posted as to who is playing, where and when.

9 Hole Men

It was hot work out there on a crowded front nine at Fairview today, but we're not about to complain. The course is in great condition, the scoring was in the 'moderate' range. Home course was reserved for the 5-Course Tournament.

Winners were:      Ken Hartley        18 points
                                Tony Welch        15    ''
                                Fred Hartley        15    ''

Next week, 26th January back at home for  an Ambrose Nett competition.

Men's World
John 'Swampy' Marsh

A very busy time of the year.

The Omokoroa Open was a great success thanks to Ben and his team of helpers.  Thanks to everyone for supporting the raffle. Please also remember to support our sponsors, The Clubroom and A One Kitchens + Interiors. We also recognise 88-year-old Richard Cullerton from Waihi who this year played in our Open for the 25th time. We wish Richard all the best in his twilight years.

Pink and Jonathan are continuing to run Twilight with a great turnout this week.  Its great to have sponsors like Bethlehem Butchery, Mike Deane Motors, The Clubroom and PaR NZ Golfing Holidays supporting this competition.

Saturday Men are hoping to be able to proceed with round three of Summer Cup tomorrow.  Men also remember the committee meeting at 9.30am.

The Barfoot and Thompson Five Course Classic has been another great success.  We have had great comments about the condition of our course and the wonderful work the green staff have done to prepare.  Thanks also to our wonderful clubhouse staff that make coming into the office or clubhouse an absolute pleasure.

Many thanks also to our volunteers who continually give their time to make our events possible.

The weather has been kind this week and we hope it continues for the pennants season.  If any Men wish to play in this competition, please contact Hugh Clark or Ben van den Borst.

On a sad note, we recently learned of the passing of Brian Tohill.  Brian was a real gem.  He won the Strokeplay in 2004 and was a valued pennants player.

Coming Event
A quick reminder that next Wednesday will finally see, hopefully, the Irish Stableford haggle which we have postponed several times previously. Bit of a twist in calculating your stableford points but details covered on the day.

Out of da Blue voucher at stake.

Twilight Update
Pink Leow

Finally, we were able to play Twilight golf on Wednesday evening with the weather blessing us with a (mainly) fine afternoon/evening. There were a total of 100 players in the field – although a few regulars were “missing in action” at the Whakatane Vets and BoP 5 Course Classic competitions.

The competition format for the day was the infamous coloured ball – love it or hate it. Out of a total of 50 pairs there were 15 teams who lost their coloured ball on the way around the course. Winners on the night were Bill and Annette Neeley with 23 points who won on a countback from Cathy and Mike Berry. Nearest to pin winners were Maria King, Lynda Smith, Steve Crossfield and Daryl Muir who each received a sleeve of 3 Titleist Pro V1 golf balls provided by PaR n.z. Golfing Holidays.

Season long competition leaders remain Peter Kilpatrick and Chris Lynch with 10 points, closely followed by Robyn & Cliff King, Annette & Bill Neeley on 9 points.

Brittany and Ana were very busy in the kitchen with 86 players enjoying the homemade Hamburgers with fries. Patrick Hawkins and Rae Milne were the lucky winners of the free meal – thanks to Brittany and Ana.
